An Honest Review of Marquis Los Cabos

Last month, I stayed at the beautiful adults only all-inclusive Marquis Los Cabos along with my husband and 3 other couples. As a travel agent, I am often invited by resorts to experience their resort brand so I can sell it in the future, but this was not one of those hosted trips. This was actually a vacation and I picked Marquis Los Cabos for my group vacation for several reason and I was not disappointed! I have sold this resort many times in the past, so I was excited to try it for myself. Keep reading for my honest review of this adults only resort in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

I have been to Cabo several times before including a stay at the beautiful Grand Velas Los Cabos, but for this trip I was looking for a true adult only resort.

From the moment we arrived at the Marquis Los Cabos and were greeted with the sweeping views of the Sea of Cortez through the arches in the open-air lobby, we were in awe. The view of the endless horizon is a great first impression and sets the stage for a wonderful vacation.

Overall Size of Marquis Los Cabos

While Marquis Los Cabos isn't classified as a boutique resort, it offers an intimate and boutique-like atmosphere. With 235 rooms, suites, and private villas, Marquis Los Cabos strikes the perfect balance between luxury and intimacy. I loved the layout and simplicity of this resort. Everything is located in the main building making getting around simple and convenient.

The Rooms

I booked all of us in the Junior Suite Ocean Front King rooms. I liked these rooms because of the panoramic and unobstructed ocean views that are seen from the balconies. The rooms have comfortable king size beds and spacious bathrooms with a tub and separate shower as well as a sitting area and a table with 2 chairs. Perfect for the work I had to do while I was there (I am always booking vacations- even on my own vacations!)

Marquis Los Cabos also has private Casitas with roof top plunge pools. These Casitas have two hotel rooms on the bottom floor and two hotel rooms on the top floor. The rooms on the top floor have rooftop plunge pools and the rooms on the bottom floor have ground floor private plunge pools.

Pro Tip: If you want an unobstructed ocean view opt for ocean front rooms. Ocean view means you will see the ocean, but it could be obstructed or far away in the distance. Ocean front guarantees sweeping views of the ocean.

The Pools

I love when a resort has multiple pools, and this is exactly what you will find here. Marquis Los Cabos has three different pools which made it easy to claim a lounge chair (or group of lounge chairs) at any time of the day which is important when traveling with a group. There is nothing worse than not being able to sit at the pool with your friends. I also loved that this resort has 2 infinity pools! One was livelier with music playing throughout the day and where the activity staff led games and the other was more laid back. Both were beautiful!

The one thing that this resort did not have was a swim up bar. Funny enough, I did not notice until the second day there. Probably because the pool wait staff was so attentive and no one ever went thirsty!

Great Pools

If you are a person who likes poolside service, then this resort is for you. At Marquis Los Cabos they serve food directly to you at the pool and as a travel agent who travels often, I know that this is not always available at resorts.

Between two of the pools there is a lawn area with corn-hole, bocci ball, pickle ball, large Jenga and Connect Four. Our group had fun challenging each other in these games!

The Food

One of the best parts about this resort is the food. It is SO good! If you’ve been following me for any bit of time, you know that I am somewhat of a “foodie”, and I appreciate a good meal. Our whole group agreed that the food at Marquis Los Cabos was fantastic! The breakfast buffet had some of the best omelets I have ever had with all fresh ingredients including the eggs (no eggbeaters here!)

Delicious Food

There are 5 restaurants at the hotel, 4 of which are included with your stay.

Dos Mares

A cantina-style restaurant which was our favorite restaurant in the resort.  The Mexican food here was delicious, which surprisingly isn’t always the case for Mexican all-inclusive resorts.

Pergola

This Italian-style restaurant serving up all of the favorites you would expect to be served on the street of Napoli. From fresh pasta to wood-fired pizzas.

Sakke

Sakke offers an enticing menu of Japanese cuisine, including sushi, sashimi, and of course a teppanyaki table. The guys in our group went deep sea fishing during the day and the restaurant cooked the fish for all of us that evening. There was a small fee to do this that can be arranged with the front desk.

Vista Ballenas This oceanfront dining venue offers guests a stunning setting with panoramic views of the Sea of Cortez and the resort's infinity pool. The restaurant specializes in serving a variety of international cuisines suck as fresh seafood, traditional Mexican dishes, and international favorites.

Canto Del Mar

This upscale restaurant, with stunning ocean views and an elegant ambiance, is offered at an additional cost. The menu features gourmet cuisine crafted with fresh, local ingredients.

Reservations are recommended and can be made in advance. Because I have the direct email for the concierge, I was able to arrange dinner reservations before we arrived and can do the same for anyone that books through me as well.

Room Service

Room Service is available from 7 am -11 pm. You can order breakfast, light snacks, and dinner. We ordered room service a couple of times and each time the food was hot and tasty. This resort uses a Secret Box for room service deliveries. This is a discreet compartment located outside your room near the entrance so guests can receive their food without the need for direct interaction with hotel staff.

The Beach

The beach and ocean views at the Marquis Los Cabos are absolutely beautiful. However, like most resorts in Cabo, you can’t actually swim in the ocean due to the strength of the currents. If going for a dip in the ocean is a high priority for you, this will not be the resort for you.

Such a beautiful Ocean

The Spa

Marquis Los Cabos has a full service spa offering hair cuts, manicures, pedicures, massages, body wraps and facials. When you book a spa service you also have full use of the spa facilities that include a relaxing lounge, a cool pool with views of the ocean, several hot tubs and a steam room. I did not visit the spa this time but was given a tour of the area.

Entertainment and Activities

As I previously mentioned, there is an activity staff who organized games like cornhole, beach volleyball and pool trivia. They did a good job of getting everyone involved. At night they had shows in the main lobby. To be honest, I only peeked on one of the shows which was Mexican dancers and singers and it looked great! Our group decided to go out one night to the downtown Cabo area for dinner at the Marina and a night out on the town! It was just a 30 minute cab ride away and the hotel arranged a taxi for us. For those that would want to be closer to the nightlife and Marina, I would maybe suggest a resort closer to town, but since we only went down there one night, we didn't mind the location.

Downtown Cabo Marina

One of the days, the guys in our group went deep sea fishing out of the San Jose Marina which is only 25 minutes away. They hired a private guide for a reasonable price and had a great day catching Dorado and Yellowfin Tuna. The guys paid a little extra to have their fish cleaned, fileted and vacuum sealed to bring back to Colorado.

OVERALL EXPERIENCE

Choosing a resort for 8 people is not always easy. My goal was to pick a resort that catered to everyone's travel styles all while making sure we had the space to hang out together as a group. Marquis Los Cabos was an excellent choice for our group. We loved the food, laid back atmosphere, the pool, views and the spacious rooms! We all agreed that this was a great hotel for a group of friends or a couples vacation.
