I am no stranger to Sandals resorts having visited several in the past such as Sandals Royal Bohemian and the family friendly Beaches Turks and Caicos and Beaches Negril, so I knew we were in for a treat!
Sandals Montego Bay - The Original Sandals Resort
I was so excited to visit the original Sandals resort with my best friend! In order to be the best travel advisor to my clients, I travel as often as I can to experience resorts first hand in order to recommend resorts that best fit my client's needs. Sandals Montego Bay opened in 1981 but don't worry - it feels completely modern and fresh after recent renovations. This gorgeous property sits on Jamaica's largest private white-sand beach with crystal-clear turquoise waters just steps from your door.
Location & Getting There
Sandals Montego Bay is perfectly located just 3 miles from Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, making it the perfect getaway for a long weekend and excellent for those who want to get started vacationing right away! Your complimentary airport transfers are included with your stay, and if you book one of the butler suites, you'll receive a private luxury transfer! Sandals Montego Bay is close to the airport, so you will see and hear planes occasionally throughout the day, but honestly, it quickly becomes part of the experience and didn't bother us at all.
Accommodations
We stayed in the Oceanfront Honeymoon Club Level Room with Balcony Tranquility Soaking Tub, and it truly elevated our entire Sandals experience. This premium room category offers unobstructed Caribbean Sea views from both the inside of the room and from the private balcony. Speaking of balconies, this one was awesome! There is a table with two chairs perfect for enjoying breakfast or a cocktail while taking in the views. You will also find a soaking tub to relax in which really elevates your vacation experience. As I had mentioned, Sandals is a couples-focused resort so every room has a king bed only and a maximum occupancy of two. As Club Level guests, we enjoyed exclusive access to the Club Sandals Lounge with complimentary beverages and appetizers, priority restaurant reservations, and personalized concierge service that made every request effortless. For couples seeking the ultimate romantic experience with luxury amenities and exceptional service, this room category is absolutely worth the investment.
Sandals Montego Bay offers several different room accommodations to suit every couple's preferences and budget. In fact there are 2444 different rooms so entrusting a travel advisor like myself to help you pick the best one for your vacation will ensure get your getaway is off to the best start! The Beach & Pools
Instead of saving the best for last, I'm going to start with my favorite part of Sandals Montego Bay - the beach! The beach here is absolutely spectacular with powder-soft white sand and the most vivid turquoise water I've ever seen. It's exactly what you picture when dreaming of a Caribbean paradise! We especially loved the attentive service we received at the beach from the servers who brought us cold drinks throughout the day.
There are multiple swimming pools throughout the resort, including swim-up bars where you can order your favorite tropical cocktail without leaving the water. Whether you prefer lounging on the beach or poolside, there's a perfect spot for everyone.

Dining Options - A Foodie's Dream!
Sandals Montego Bay features 12 restaurants right at the resort plus access to 9 more at nearby Sandals properties - that's 21 dining options in total! Â Talk about variety! From casual beachside grills to elegant fine dining, there's something for every mood and craving.
My personal favorites included:
Butch's Steak & Seafood for the most amazing filet mignon
The Jerk Shack for authentic Jamaican jerk chicken (a must-try!)
Soy for the most delicious sushi
Tokyo Jo's for cook to order Japanese Teppanyaki
Cucina Romana for delicious Italian cuisine with incredible ocean views
Café de Paris for morning coffee and pastries
The food quality was consistently excellent, and the service was always friendly and attentive. Plus, all premium liquors and Robert Mondavi Twin Oaks wines are included too!
There are 6 bars including swim-up bars and a piano bar at Sandals Montego Bay. One of the coolest is the Over-the-Water Bar, which is open air and has 360-degree views of the ocean plus overwater hammocks for two.
Activities & Entertainment
One thing I love about Sandals is that all water sports and activities are included! Paddleboarding, kayaking, snorkeling, glass bottom boat rides and even scuba diving are all included. For land lovers, there's beach volleyball, pickle ball, tennis, basketball, and a fully equipped fitness center.
Every evening featured different entertainment - from beach parties under the stars to live music and shows. There is never a dull moment to be had!
Stay at One, Play at Two!
A huge bonus of staying at Sandals Montego Bay is that you get complete access to all the amenities and restaurants at nearby Sandals Royal Caribbean. It's like getting two vacations in one! In less than 10 minutes you can be enjoying a different vibe and vacation experience! The complimentary shuttle runs every 30 minutes throughout the day between the two resorts
We spent one day exploring Sandals Royal Caribbean and lounging at the private island there. It was a fun change of scenery!
Destination Weddings at Sandals Montego Bay
Sandals Montego Bay provides an absolutely magical setting for destination wedding! With pristine white sand beaches, lush tropical gardens, and elegant oceanfront venues it is the perfect backdrop for your special day. Choose from stunning ceremony locations including the jaw dropping over water chapel.
